Leadership for Louisiana

We are facing unique challenges in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

After doing everything we possibly could to promote growth here in Lafayette for over a century, we have now been inundated with 25 years’ growth in about 90 days.

With all the devastation in New Orleans and southeast Louisiana, with the incredible doubling of Baton Rouge, with the impact of Rita on the Lake Charles area – Lafayette has become the anchor of south Louisiana – and an oasis in a sea of turmoil.

As 23rd District Senator, I’m working with the Governor, legislature, and local officials to address the strain on our education, healthcare and transportation systems. I’m committed to seeing that Lafayette is able to respond and prosper in this challenging time
